The main control system is performed by a KNX based system.

For new installations, I would always prefer a wired solution instead of a radio based solution. The argument that KNX systems are more expensive is only partially true.

  • First, planning, installation and programming are the biggest parts of the total costs, which is completely saved if you do it yourself
  • Second, there is the company MDT, a relatively cheap supplier of KNX components.

Connecting to the PC

This is realized by an IP gateway from EIB. You should be aware, in order to change the IP address, you must switch to a USB or serial gateway. This is needed only once. So best to borrow somewhere.

You are able to control all knx compontents like universal interfaces, binary inputs, switch actuators, dimming actuators and shutter actuators zu steuern.

More real use cases can be found in several subtopics below the main topic "indoor area".
